Text Banking Request

Spoke is a web app for sending text messages to large lists of phone numbers. Access to the chapter's Spoke is available to all chapter formations upon request, pending approval as per our Spoke Policy, which you should read to understand how approvals are decided. This form is long, so please read through it, understand all the questions, and gather all needed information before starting.

If you have any questions, or run into any problems with this form, please reach out for help in #helpdesk on Slack, or by opening a general support ticket.

Texters need to make a MDC DSA Spoke account before they’re able to receive responses and follow up with mass text recipients. Please send the link to create Spoke accounts to your texters and ask them to create Spoke accounts before you submit your request.

Please allow a minimum of one week (7 days) between the submission of your request and the start of your text campaign.

Initial Text Guidelines

Include [TXTERNAME] if you want the texter's name filled in automatically. Note that the texter is the "sender" of the text, not the recipient.

Don't write your message expecting to have the recipient's name filled in automatically. Our records can be out of date and we do not want to deadname anyone.

This message must be 160 characters or less, so please count the characters before submitting, using the name of the longest texter if including texter names.

If you have a list of recipients, please upload a windows formatted .csv with the following three unique columns, with this exact capitalization:

Texters

Spoke requires people manually send any pre-configured follow-up texts to the list of targets. You will need a team of texters in place in order to send the follow-up texts once your request is processed and set up. Send these people the link to create Spoke accounts, and ask them to make sure they have an account, before submitting.

Electoral Work

Mass text campaigns related to electoral work must be pre-approved by the Electoral Working Group and will only be sent to members in good standing.

Next Steps

What happens after I click submit?

When the ticket is received, it is assigned to a Spoke Team representative. The rep will contact you through Red Desk to confirm that they’ve seen your ticket and to ask you for any additional information needed. The Spoke Team will then work behind the scenes to get the campaign launched.

Upon the launch of your campaign, you will receive a confirmation notice through Red Desk with further instructions.
